Gameplay:

DOTA 2 has quite an interesting gameplay. It is played in a 3D map with real time strategy controls. The map is divided into two halves, each side occupying one side and defending itself from the other one. The map has various pathways which include three land paths known as lanes, and one waterway which is a crossable river in between two halves. These pathways can be used to enter into the opponent’s territory. Also, the map has a lot of fog which makes it difficult to see the opponent army and the creeps.

Teams:

There are two teams in DOTA 2. One is called Radiant, and the other one is Dire. Each team has five players, a total of 10 players in the game. Each team has to destroy a large fort-like structure, the base known as ‘Ancient’ of the other team on the other side of the map. Seems easy? It’s really not!

Entering into someone else’s territory is not an easy task. Obviously, they have taken some protectionary measures such as guards and building structures. Moreover, there are many small creatures known as ‘creeps’ who produce many hurdles for you while attacking the other side. Each side has its creeps, creating problems for the enemy. There are some neutral creeps as well who love to be problematic for both the teams. Moreover, the pathways are not easy to cross. The Ancient is also guarded by small forts which have to be destroyed and crossed in order to reach the Ancient.

Characters:

Each member has to opt for one hero from around 116 characters offered by the game known as ‘heroes’. Each hero has its own specialty and four unique abilities. When each hero starts the game, his experience level is zero. It levels up during the game as hero acquires more power. ‘Ultimate’ is the most powerful ability which is gained at level 6 and helps in winning the game. The highest level which can be attained is 25. At level 25, the hero is eligible to unlock a new ability and increase its strength. Each hero has health points which increase with strength and decrease with attacks or assaults. Once the health points are zero, the hero dies and can respawn in their base.
